DECEMBER 6, 2002
THE COMMISSIONERS COURT OF BRAZOS COUNTY WILL CONDUCT A
WORKSHOP SESSION ON FRIDAY, DECEMBER 6, 2002 AT 9:30 A.M. IN THE
COUNTY COURT AT LAW #2 COURTROOM OF THE BRAZOS COUNTY
COURTHOUSE, 300 EAST 26TH STREET, SUITE 203, BRYAN, TEXAS.
AT THIS WORKSHOP, THE DEPARTMENT OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT
WILL HOST A PRESENTATION BY THE HARRIS COUNTY JUDICIAL SYSTEM
REGARDING THE CONTINUITY OF COUNTY GOVERNMENT AFTER
EMERGENCIES AND DISASTERS.
ALL ELECTED OFFICIALS AND DEPARTMENT HEADS ARE ENCOURAGED TO
ATTEND.
The Courthouse is wheelchair accessible. Handicap parking spaces are available. Any request for sign interpretive

WORKSHOP SESSION
DECEMBER 6, 2002
A posted Workshop meeting of the Commissioners' Court of
Brazos County, Texas was held in the County Court at Law II
courtroom in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 9:30
a.m. on Friday, December 6, 2002. Neither the Commissioners
nor the County Judge were attendance. Karen McQueen, County
Clerk, did attend.
Attached is a list of the citizens and officials in
attendance.
The Commissioners Court Workshop Session sponsored by
Emergency Management met to hear a presentation by the Harris
County Judicial System concerning the continuity of county
government after emergencies and disasters.
County Court at Law II Judge, Jim Locke introduced Jack
Thompson, coordinator in the Houston courts who spoke of the
experience with tropical storm Allison in June of 2001. Some
of this included temporarily relocating the courts and
complications with the jail. He outlined the stages of
disaster recovery from early planning to long term recovery.
This also includes designating a Court facility if the courts

are to be moved off site and establishing an information
system to prevent rumors.

Flexible Spending Account (cafeteria plan).

5. Payment of Claims.
6. Personnel Changes of Status.
7. Implementing the use of debit cards for the Flexible Spending Account (cafeteria
plan).
8. Addendum to the Administrative Services Agreement with Harrington Benefit
Services, Inc. (Employee Benefit Services).
9. Request by the County Clerk to establish the pay rate for the election tabulation
supervisor and two assistants and to correct the rate paid for the November 5, 2002
General Election.
