HomeMy WebLinkAbout2002-11-19-1030AM-PublicHearing• COMMISSIONERS' COURT PUBLIC HEARING NOVEMBER 19, 2002 The Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas held a Public Hearing in the Commissioners Courtroom in the Courthouse in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 10:30 • a.m. on Tuesday, November 19, 2002, with the following members of the Court present: Alvin W. Jones, County Judge, Presiding; Tony Jones, Commissioner of Precinct 1; Bill Thornton, Commissioner of Precinct 2; C. B. Jones, Commissioner of Precinct 3; Carey Cauley, Jr., Commissioner of Precinct 4; Karen McQueen, County Clerk. Attached is a list of the citizens and officials in attendance. The Court met to hear commentary for and against the posting of speed limits on I&GN Road, located in Precinct 1. Ray Crow, representative of the Road and Bridge Department • told the Court that the study, by the Metropolitan Planning Office, had been done at the request of the citizens of that area. He said that the average speed limit along I&GN, between South Dowling and Capstone Drive was 41.59 miles per hour and between Capstone and Graham was 46.22 miles per hour. He then recommended averaging the two and then rounding the Vol 39' Page 197 0 Commissioners Court Public Hearing November 19, 2002 2 speed limit up to 45 miles per hour. The County Judge asked why not round it down to 40 miles per hour which he preferred. The County Judge stated that this would be placed on the next week's agenda. There being no further comment, the County Judge declared the Public hearing closed. As you requested, please find attached the speed report for IG&N/ S. Dowling to Capstone and IG&N/ Capstone to Graham Rd. The speed studies were conducted on October 2, 2002 through October 4, 2002. The daily average number of vehicles at the location from S. Dowling to Capstone was 188 and the 85`" percentile speed equaled 41.59mph. The daily average number of vehicles at the location from Capstone to Graham Rd was 199 and the study indicated that the 85`h percentile speed equals 46.22 mph.
