Jones, County Judge, Presiding; Tony Jones, Commissioner of Precinct 1; Wm. S. Thornton, Commissioner of Precinct 2; C. B. Jones, Commissioner of Precinct 3; Carey Cauley, Jr., Commissioner of Precinct 4; Karen McQueen, County Clerk. Attached is a list of the citizens and officials in attendance. The Commissioners Court met in Workshop Session to • discuss the following topics: a. Discussion of courthouse remodeling to provide an office and courtroom for the magistrate. The County Judge asked the Director of Building Maintenance, Carlos Guitron, for his suggestions. Those were to move the Magistrate into the County Court at Law #2 courtroom, County Court at Law #2 courtroom to the District Clerk's file room and Jury Services to the County Court at Law #2 jury room. Mr. Guitron has spoken with all involved and they seem to be pleased with the plan. Computer wiring concerns would have to be addressed by the Information Technology Department. Mr. Guitron then produced an estimate submitted by Orion Construction for just the new courtroom alone. All concerned thought the estimate was excessively high and that the work could probably be done for less than the $165,000.00 quoted. Vol 35- Page 195 0 Commissioners Court meeting September 24, 2002 2 b. Proposed Capital Asset Guide. The County Auditor outlined the proposed asset guide indicating there would be a new reporting model for the recording of fixed assets and suggested that a higher figure than $5,000.00 be used for capitalization. He also recommended the county use straight line depreciation on the assets. As for Infrastructure Assets, he said he needed to know what approach would be taken for capitalization and depreciation, whether it be the standard approach or the modified approach. There being no further commentary, the County Judge ended the Workshop session.
