WORKSHOP SESSION
THE COMMISSIONERS COURT WILL MEET IN A WORKSHOP SESSION ON
THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 15, 2001 AT 5:15 P.M. IN THE COMMISSIONERS
COURTROOM OF THE BRAZOS COUNTY COURTHOUSE, 300 EAST 26TH STREET,
SUITE 115, BRYAN, TEXAS.
1. Call to Order.
2. Discussion of the proposed Magistrate position.
3. Plan for implementation of SB 7.
4. Adjourn.

COMMISSIONERS' COURT
WORKSHOP SESSION
NOVEMBER 15, 2001
The Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas met in
a Workshop Session in the Commissioners' Courtroom in the
Courthouse in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 5:15
p.m. on Thursday, November 15, 2001, with the following
members of the Court present:
Alvin W. Jones, County Judge, Presiding;
Tony Jones, Commissioner of Precinct 1;
Wm. S. Thornton, Commissioner of Precinct 2;
Randy Sims, Commissioner of Precinct 3;
Carey Cauley, Jr., Commissioner of Precinct 4, Absent;
Karen McQueen, County Clerk, Absent.
Attached is a list of the citizens and officials in
attendance.
The Commissioners Court met in workshop Session to
discuss the following:
1. Proposed magistrate position. There was
considerable discussion on the need of a magistrate
position, and how the position would assist the
County Courts At Law. The coats associated with a
magistrate were also discussed. There was a
suggestion to employ the magistrate on a part-time
basis.
2. Plan for implementation of Senate Bill 7.
There was discussion on the requirements of Senate
Bill 7, and the need for a decision on the
magistrate position in order to finalize the plan.
