TEXAS rn,, n M I2/ t OUSE ;1Y.. - NOTICE OF SPECIAL SESSION AND AGENDA BRAZOS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS COURT THE COMMISSIONERS COURT WILL MEET IN A SPECIAL SESSION ON MONDAY, NOVEMBER 13, 2000 AT 4:30 P.M. IN THE COMMISSIONERS COURTROOM OF THE BRAZOS COUNTY COURTHOUSE, 300 EAST 26" STREET, SUITE 115, BRYAN, TEXAS. 1. Call to order. Consider and take action on the agenda items 2 - 5: 2. Order Canvassing Election Returns for a special bond election held on November 7, 2000 on Proposition 1 relative to the issuance of $18,500,000 Coliseum Bonds. 3. Canvassing of votes of Proposition 1 abolishing the office of elected county public weigher. 4. Canvassing of votes of Proposition 2 abolishing the office of county surveyor of this county. 5. Canvassing of votes of election held on November 7. 2000 for officials for the Town of Kurten, Texas. 6. Adjourn. "L 2.. - l 1 COMMISSIONERS' COURT SPECIAL MEETING NOVEMBER 13, 2000 A special meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas was held in the Commissioners' Courtroom in the Courthouse in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, November 13, 2000, with the following members of the Court present: Alvin W. Jones, County Judge, Presiding; Tony Jones, Commissioner of Precinct 1; Wm.S. Thornton, Commissioner of Precinct 2, Absent; Randy Sims, Commissioner of Precinct 3, Absent; Carey Cauley, Jr., Commissioner of Precinct 4, Absent; Mary Ann Ward, County Clerk. The attached sheet contains the names of the citizens and officials that were in attendance. The Court -proceeded to canvas the results of the election returns for a special bond election held November 7, 2000 on Proposition 1 relating to the issuance of $18,500,000.00 Coliseum Bonds. The votes were as follows: For 17,733 Against 17,586 On motion by Commissioner Sims, seconded by Commissioner Jones, the Court voted unanimously to accept the vote count as presented. Dr. Jim Mazurkiewitz and Dr. John Smith spoke on the issue of the exposition center. The Court next canvassed the vote of Proposition 1 abolishing the office of elected county public weigher. The votes were as follows: For 24,572 Against 7,560 On motion by Commissioner Sims, seconded by Commissioner Jones, the Court voted unanimously to accept the vote count as presented. • Vol Page 3 I I r Commissioners' Court meeting November 13, 2000 2 • is The Court next canvassed the vote of Proposition 1 abolishing the office of elected county surveyor of this county. The votes were as follows: For 18,720 Against 13,153 On motion by Commissioner Sims, seconded by Commissioner Jones, the Court voted unanimously to accept the vote count as presented. The Court continued with canvassing of votes of election held on November 7, 2000 for officials for the town of Kurten, Texas. The votes were as follows: MAYOR/ALERMAN Bobby L. Younger 33 Chad Eixmann 27 Doug Stocks 14 Hawley West 76 Ronnie Vitulli 31 Marvin Klintworth 53 On motion by Commissioner Sims, seconded by Commissioner Jones, the Court voted unanimously to accept the vote count as presented. Marshall of the Town of Kurten Eward Lenz, Jr. 59 On motion by Commissioner Sims, seconded by Commissioner Jones, the Court voted unanimously to accept the vote count as presented ordered all the results to be certified to the Secretary of State and recorded in the Official Election Records of Brazos County. A copy of the election results as tabulated is attached hereto.
