attendance.
The purpose of the Public Hearing was to hear commentary
for and against the renaming of Gandy Road, Sherwood Drive and
Blue Ridge Drive.
The County Judge opened the floor for comments.
1. Commissioner Jones stated he had received
fourteen (14) letters from citizens asking that the
entire road be named Blue Ridge Drive.
2. Henry Mayo stated all residents on Gandy Road
would like to see the road name changed to Rock
Prairie Road or Rock Prairie Road West.
3. Ray Crow, Road & Bridge Engineering Aid, said
they had received approximately 12 phone calls in
favor of the road being re-named to Rock Prairie
Road so that all residents would have to change
address.
There was general discussion on the renaming of the road
to Rock Prairie Road. One comment was that the City of College
Station would someday annex the area and would probably change
the name at that time to Rock Prairie Road.
4. Michael Parks, Metropolitan Planning officer,
stated that College Station would put the
directional part of the name at the end of the name
as in Rock Prairie Road West.
