TEXAS 8Y d~ E?UFY NOTICE OF WORKSHOP MEETING AND AGENDA BRAZOS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS COURT THE COMMISSIONERS COURT WILL MEET IN A WORKSHOP SESSION ON TUESDAY, MAY 30, 2000 AT 10:30 A.M. IN THE COMMISSIONERS COURTROOM OF THE BRAZOS COUNTY COURTHOUSE, 300 EAST 26TH STREET, SUITE I IS, BRYAN, TEXAS. The following items will be discussed: 1. Travel Policy regarding meal reimbursement. 2. Capital Fixed Assets Level definition. 3. Collection of Court Costs and Fines. 4. Debt Service Analysis. 5. Workers' Compensation Inequity. 6. Employee Handbook and Employment Policy. 7. Possible Legislative Issues. The Courthouse is wheelchair accessible. Handicap parking spaces are available. Any request for sign interpretive services must be made two business days before the meeting. To make arrangements, call (979) 3614102. .20 o4on, q5 - I E' ,i. ii j COMMISSIONERS' COURT WORKSHOP SESSION MAY 30, 2000 The Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas met in a Workshop Session in the Commissioners' Courtroom in the Courthouse in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 30, 2000, with the following members of the Court present: Alvin W. Jones, County Judge, Presiding; Tony Jones, Commissioner of Precinct 1; Wm. S. Thornton, Commissioner of Precinct 2; Randy Sims, Commissioner of Precinct 3; Carey Cauley, Jr., Commissioner of Precinct 4, Absent; Mary Ann Ward, County Clerk. Attached is a list of the citizens and officials in attendance. The Commissioners Court met in Workshop Session to discuss the following: 1. Travel Policy concerning meal reimbursement for day trips, room rates and milage rates. Commissioner Thornton suggested getting an opinion from the outside auditors. 2. Capital Fixed assets level definition. The Purchasing Agent would like the accountability set at $1,000. The Court recessed until 1:30 p.m. The County Judge called the meeting to order and continued with the workshop. I 3. Collection of Court Costs and Fines. There was I! considerable discussion on who collects the fines and court cost. The County Judge directed the District Clerk to obtain an Attorney General's opinion on this issue. 4. Debt Service Analysis. The County Auditor said he would revise figures. 5. Workers Compensation inequity. 6. Employee Handbook and Employment Policy. The County Judge asked for a copy of the policies . He will assign certain people to work on the manual. 7. Legislative Issues a. Should law be changed to allow community supervision to collect fines and fees. b. Combining the District Attorney's office with that of the County Attorney I~ into a Criminal District Attorney's 1 office. s. Vol _ Consolidate Court Cost that go to the State.
