TEXAS • NOTICE OF MEETING AND AGENDA BRAZOS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS COURT EMERGENCY MEETING THE COMMISSIONERS COURT WILL CONDUCT AN EMERGENCY MEETING IN ACCORDANCE WITH LOCAL GOVERNMENT CODE 551.045 ON TUESDAY, JANUARY 4, 2000, AT 2:00 P.M. IN THE COMMISSIONERS COURTROOM OF THE BRAZOS COUNTY COURTHOUSE, 300 EAST 26T' STREET, SUITE 115, BRYAN, TEXAS. THE PURPOSE OF THE MEETING IS TO CONSIDER THE ADOPTION OF A BURN BAN FOR BRAZOS COUNTY DUE TO THE IMMINENT THREAT TO PUBLIC HEALTH AND SAFETY RESULTING FROM THE HAZARDS THAT WOULD BE EXACERBATED BY OUTDOOR BURNING DURING A TIME OF DROUGHT CONDITIONS. The Courthouse is wheelchair accessible. Handicap parking spaces are available. Any request for sign interpretive services must be made two business days before the meeting. To make arrangements, call (409) 361-4102. dot% C21 i M4. 1 'a- a ti• s v - COMMISSIONERS' COURT SPECIAL MEETING JANUARY 4, 2000 f r f t t • r A Special meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas was held in the Commissioners' Courtroom in the Courthouse in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 4, 2000, with the following members of the Court present: Alvin W. Jones, County Judge, Presiding; Tony Jones, Commissioner of Precinct 1; Wm.S. Thornton, Commissioner of Precinct 2; Randy Sims, Commissioner of Precinct 3; Carey Cauley, Jr., Commissioner of Precinct 4; Mary Ann Ward, County Clerk. The attached sheet contains the names of the citizens and officials that were in attendance. The Court considered adoption of a "Burn Ban." This is due to the imminent threat to public health and safety resulting from the hazards that would be exacerbated by outdoor burning during a time of drought conditions. The Assistant Emergency Manager informed the Court that the burn index was at 583. On motion by the County Judge, seconded by Commissioner Sims, the Court voted unanimously to adopt the Order to ban burning. A copy of the Order is attached hereto.
