TIMA9 AGENDA BRAZOS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS' COURT MEETING THE COMMISSIONERS' COURT WILL MEET IN SPECIAL SESSION ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 10, 1992, AT 10:00 A.M. IN THE COMMISSIONERS' COURTROOM OF THE BRAZOS COUNTY COURTHOUSE, 300 EAST 26TH STREET, SUITE 115, BRYAN, TEXAS. 1. Consider and take action on the creation of a wetlands at the Brazos Center. 2. Adjourn. y VOL_11 PAGE --YL_-. 6 COMMISSIONERS' COURT SPECIAL MEETING NOVEMBER 10, 1992 A special meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas was held in the Commissioners' Courtroom in the Courthouse in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 10, 1992, with the following members of the Court present: R. J. Holmgreen, County Judge, Presiding; Gary Norton, Commissioner of Precinct 1; Walter Wilcox, Commissioner of Precinct 2; Randy Sims, Commissioner of Precinct 3; Milton Turner, Commissioner of Precinct 4; Mary Ann Ward, County Clerk. The following citizens and officials were in attendance: Ruth McLeod Carol Palmer Cheryl Turney Jim Hiney John Doucet Dan Wilkerson James P. Marrow Executive Assistant Admin. Asst. to County Judge Auditor's Office Bryan/College Station Eagle Doucet & Associates, Inc. City of Bryan Constable Pct. 2 Elect The Court met to consider adopting a resolution setting aside a certain tract of land adjacent to the Brazos Center for the creation of a wetlands. The County Judge turned the meeting over to Dan Wilkerson, representative of the City of Bryan, who explained that this is a creation of wetlands to replace the area being closed by the Walmart Corporation due to a recent land purchase. He went on to say that the County was not creating something that was not already in existence currently. He further stated that the City of Bryan would be responsible for the control of mosquito infestation. This action is necessary to obtain a United States Army Corps of Engineer's 404 permit for development. The County Judge informed the Court that this is a joint venture between private business and the County and that Brazos County was not obligated to maintain this area. Commissioner Sims requested that a copy of the plan for the creation of a wetlands area be submitted to the Corp of Engineers and that a signed copy be returned to the Court. On T- Y • ~J • motion by Commissioner Sims, seconded by Commissioner Norton, the Court voted unanimously to adopt A Resolution Setting Aside a Certain 2.71 Acre Tract of Land Adjacent to the Brazos Center in Brazos County for dedication as wetlands and that it be immediately effective upon its passage and adoption. Commissioner Norton seconded the motion and it carried unanimously. WHEREAS, Brazos County owns approximately fifty acres of land, more or less, in Bryan, Brazos County upon which the Brazos Center building itself is situated along with other grounds and parking area; and, WHEREAS, Brazos County desires to cooperate and participate in the Federal Conservation of Wetlands program; and, WHEREAS, a certain tract of land on the Brazos Center lands is ideally suited for Wetlands dedication; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BRAZOS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS COURT THAT: Section 1. That certain 2.71 acre tract of land adjacent to the Brazos Center and more fully described in Exhibit A attached hereto and incorporated herein by this reference for all purposes, is hereby dedicated as a Wetlands area as that is defined by the Federal government. Section 2. It is understood that Brazos County shall not be required to contribute any further funding to the creation of this Wetlands area. Section 3.
