TEXA-8 By p PUi NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING BRAZOS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS COURT The Commissioners Court of Brazos County, Texas will hold a Public Hearing to consider the posting of speed limits on White Creek Road located in Precinct I and Lightsey Lane located in Precinct 4. 0I The place of the hearing will be the Commissioners Courtroom, Brazos County Courthouse, Room 115, 300 East 26' Street, Bryan, Texas. The date of the hearing will be Monday, June 7, 1999 and the time of the hearing will be 10:30 a.m. All interested persons are invited to attend said hearing and present their cause. if any, for or against the posting of speed limits on White Creek Road and Lightsey Lane. The Courthouse is wheelchair accessible. Handicap parking spaces are available. Any request for sign interpretive services must be made twq business days before the meeting. To make arrangements, call (409) 361-4102. 101 1 1 I.~ COMMISSIONERS' COURT PUBLIC HEARING JUNE 7, 1999 The Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas held a Public Hearing to the consider posting of speed limits on White Creek Road in Precinct 1 and Lightsey Lane in Precinct 4. The meeting was held in the Commissioners' Courtroom in the Courthouse in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 7, 1999, with the following members of the Court present: Alvin W. Jones, County Judge, Presiding; Tony Jones, Commissioner of Precinct 1; Wm. S. Thornton, Commissioner of Precinct 2, Absent; Randy Sims, Commissioner of Precinct 3; Carey Cauley, Jr., Commissioner of Precinct 4; Mary Ann Ward, County Clerk. Attached is a list of the citizens and officials in attendance. The purpose of the Public Hearing was to hear commentary for and against the proposed setting of speed limits on White Creek Road and Lightsey Lane. The County Judge asked Ray Crow, Engineering Aide, to explain how the speed limit was derived from the 85 percentile. He did, then went on to say that the 85 percentile for White Creek Road between FM 60 and River Road was 42 mph and he recommended setting the speed limit at 40 mph. Commissioner Cauley asked if there wasn't legislation to lower speed limits below the 85 percentile recommendation. Commissioner Jones replied that yes there was. Mr. Crow then explained that the 85 percentile for Lightsey Lane was 51.37 mph and that he recommended setting the speed limit at 50 mph. Commissioner Cauley said that the County should look into getting information on lowering the speed limit below the 85 percentile for safety's sake There being no further comment, the County Judge declared the Public hearing closed. i The foregoing minutes of the Commissioners Court Public Hearing held June 7, 1999 have been examined and are approved in open Court this the Pr day of S ISF~..•.. 19 , in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas. 01 Alvi W.
