WORKSHOP SESSION
THE COMMISSIONERS COURT WILL MEET IN A WORKSHOP SESSION ON
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 20,1998 AT 10:15 A.M. IN THE COMMISSIONERS COURTROOM
OF THE BRAZOS COUNTY COURTHOUSE, 300 EAST 26TH STREET, SUITE 115,
BRYAN, TEXAS.

THE PURPOSE OF THE WORKSHOP IS TO DISCUSS RETIREMENT BENEFITS FOR
COUNTY EMPLOYEES AND RETIREES.
The Courthouse is wheelchair accessible. Handicap parking spaces are available. Any request for
sign interpretive services must be made two business days before the meeting. To make

COMMISSIONERS' COURT
WORKSHOP SESSION
OCTOBER 20, 1998
The Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas met in
a Workshop Session in the Commissioners' Courtroom in the
Courthouse in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 10:15
a.m. on Tuesday, October 20, 1998, with the following members
of the Court present:
Alvin W. Jones, County Judge, Presiding;
Tony Jones, Commissioner of Precinct 1;
Wm. S. Thornton, Commissioner of Precinct 2;
Randy Sims, Commissioner of Precinct 3;
Carey Cauley, Jr., Commissioner of Precinct 4;
Mary Ann Ward, County Clerk.
Attached is a list of the citizens and officials in
attendance.
The Commissioners Court met in Workshop Session to
discuss retirement benefits for county employees and retirees.
Commissioners Jones, Sims and Cauley all stated that the
benefits should remain as is. The County Auditor informed the
Court that the County cannot participate in excess of 10.5*
and that the 2.25% match will require the County to fund at
10.981. The Commissioners decided to ask Joseph Froh with the
Texas County and District Retirement System to come to Brazos
County and advise the Court.
