The Brazos County Commissioners Court will hold a public hearing on a proposal to
increase total tax revenues from properties on the tax roll by 4.6822 percent.
The public hearing will be held on August 25,1998 at 1:00 p.m. in the Commissioners
Courtroom, Brazos County Courthouse, 300 East 260 Street, Bryan, Texas.

The courthouse is wheelchair accessible. Handicap parking spaces are available. Any request

TAX RATE 1998
AUGUST 25, 1998
A public'. ieg was held by the Commissioners Court in the Commissioners Coutttnom in
the Braaos County Courthouse, Bryan, Texas beginning at 1:00 p.m on Tuesday, August 25, 1998
with the following members of the Court present:
Alvin W. Jones, County Judge, Presiding;
Tony Jones, Commissioner of Precinct 1;
William S. Thornton, Commissioner of Precinct 2;
Randy Sans, Commissioner of Precinct 3;
Carey Cauley, Jr., Commissioner of Precinct 4;
Attached is a list of citizens and officials in attendance.
The Notice of the Public Hearing was read aloud and the public hearing was opened for
comments from the public.
Demetrios Basdekas asked how Court had arrived at the increase in taxes, He was advised
tint the State specified the procedure to be used when setting a tax rate the levy of taxes. He went
on to question the wisdom of setting a tax rate before knowing the total dollars required by the
buld8et-
The County Judge asked for other con rents fi+om the public. Hearing none he asked for
comtneads from members of the Court. Hearing none he announced the public hearing closed and
adjourned.
