other weapons in county owned and operated facilities.
Commissioner Sims addressed Section 46.035(b)(3) of the
statute in which it states that it is unlawful to carry a
handgun by licensed holder on the premises of a correctional
facility. On motion by Commissioner Sims, seconded by
Commissioner Walker,• the Court voted unanimously to prohibit
the carrying of handguns by licensed holder at the Courthouse
and the Minimum Security Jail and post signs at both
facilities. Commissioner Sims recommended taking a closer
look at the law because he could foresee no big problem at the
Brazos Center or Rodeo Arena or the need to post signs there.
He indicated that we needed to do nothing more than what law
currently says, but that we need to post signs at the Minimum
Security Jail and the Courthouse. Commissioner Cauley said
that the posting should include the Brazos Center and Arena
Hall because of the alcohol being consumed at private parties
in the facilities.
