THE COMMISSIONERS COURT WILL MEET IN A WORKSHOP SESSION ON
MONDAY, MAY 22,1995 AT 1:30 P.M. IN THE COMMISSIONERS' COURTROOM OF
THE BRAZOS COUNTY COURTHOUSE, 300 EAST 26TH STREET, SUITE 115,
BRYAN, TEXAS.
Topics to be discussed are:
1. Juvenile Detention Center plans.
2. Proposed Courthouse Annex.
3. Greens Prairie Road extension.

WORKSHOP SESSION
MAY 22, 1995
The Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas met in a
Workshop Session in the Commissioners' Courtroom in the Courthouse
in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 1:30 p.m. on Monday,
May 22, 1994, with the following members of the Court present:
Alvin W. Jones, County Judge, Presiding;
Gary Norton, Commissioner of Precinct 1,;
Sandie Walker, Commissioner of Precinct 2,;
Randy Sims, Commissioner of Precinct 3; -
Carey Cauley, Jr., Commissioner of Precinct 4;
Mary Ann Ward, County Clerk.

The Court met and discussed the following topics:
Lori Honeycutt, represe
ntative of the Texas Association of
Counties informed the Court
of the drug and alcohol testing that
will be required in 1996 for
those with CDL licensing and how to
save money on its workers compensation premiums.
Ernie Wentrcek discussed the ramifications of the proposed
bill dealing with an alternative school for juveniles.
1) Juvenile Detention
Center Plans - The Court
heard from Chuck
Croslin who had some new
drawings of the proposed Juvenile Center to
show the Court.
The members of the Court
discussed at length various design options.

2) Proposed Courthouse Annex - The court dis-
cussed the pros and cons of having a facility
in the south end of the county, personnel
needs, space and costs. They also discussed
efforts in other counties to establish annexes
and the success or failures of these efforts.
3) Greens Prairie Road extension - Commissioner
Norton informed the Court that right-of-way
had been procured from FM 2154 to Rock Prairie
Road. The three miles from Rock Prairie to
Highway 30 need to be procured but this will
only be from three land owners.
4) Purchase of vehicles and related equipment for
the License and Weight Deputies in the
Sheriff's Department - The Sheriff explained
the need for two vehicles to work licenses and
weights.
The County Judge announced that Monday, May 29, 1995 was a
holiday. It was the consensus of the Court to meet on Tuesday, May
30, 1995.
Commissioner Norton asked the Auditor to compile a cost
estimate for the new annex.
There being no further business to come before the Court, the
meetinc was adiourned.
