BRAZOS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS COURT WORKSHOP
THE COMMISSIONERS' COURT WILL MEET IN A WORKSHOP SESSION ON
MONDAY, MAY 8, 1995 AT 1:30 P.M. IN THE COMMISSIONERS' COURTROOM OF
THE BRAZOS COUNTY COURTHOUSE, 300 EAST 26TH STREET, SUITE 115,
BRYAN, TEXAS.
Topics to be discussed are:
1. Sate of land located on South College Avenue.
2. Travel policy and procedures dealing with rates of reimbursement.
3. Payments for membership in professional and other organizations.
4. Request from the Bryan-College Station Economic Development Corporation for increased
contributions for 1996.
5. Reallocation of position(s) from Constable Precinct 7 to Sheriffs Office.
6. Compensation for county employees doing other work for county.
7. Request for additional phone lines to support Community Supervision and Corrections
Department and discussion of current county telephone system.
8. Salary payment for Sheriffs Office deputies.

COMMISSIONERS' COURT
WORKSHOP SESSION
MAY 8, 1995
The Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas met in a
Workshop Session in the Commissioners' Courtroom in the Courthouse
in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 1:30 p.m. on Monday,
May 8, 1995, with the following members of the Court present:
Alvin W. Jones, County Judge, Presiding;
Gary Norton, Commissioner of Precinct 1;
Sandie Walker, Commissioner of Precinct 2;
Randy Sims, Commissioner of Precinct 3;
Carey Cauley, Jr., Commissioner of Precinct 4;
Mary Ann Ward, County Clerk.

The Court met to discuss the following topics:
1. Sale of land located on South College Avenue.
This is in reference to the property next to Denim
and Diamonds on South College Avenue and part of the
Atochem lawsuit. The consensus of the Court was if and
when the land is sold, the County will inform the
purchaser that the county intends to retain right for
future law suits and maintain its position in the current
law suit.
2. Travel policy and procedures.
The County Judge stated that the policies were being
reviewed and comments submitted to his office. He
further stated that $65.00 per day for an overnight stay
would be adequate. Ed Dobbins, Maintenance Department,
asked for a more realistic figure for in town mileage.
3. Payments for membership in professional and other
organizations.
Commissioner Norton suggested keeping the list of
organizations as is until budget time, then the
department head can justify the memberships.

4. Request from the Bryan-College Station Economic
Development Corporation for increased contributions for
1996.
This is a $40,000 increase from the 1995
• contribution. It is a budgetary item and will be
1 discussed at budget time.
5. Reallocation of positions from the Constable Precinct 7
office to the Sheriff's Department.
The traffic clerk position in the Constable Precinct
7 office is currently open and will not be filled.
Recommendations were made to transfer the deputy handling
traffic to the Sheriff's office. This will be decided in
Commissioners Court.
6. Compensation for county employees doing other work for the
county.
Due to lack of information this will be considered
at a future date.
7. Request for additional phone lines to support Community
Supervision and Corrections Department and discussion of
current county telephone system.
Ed Dobbins, Maintenance Department, explained that
the current county telephone system is very close to
using up all available memory and the county may need to
look into a new system.
