2) Juvenile Detention Center - Charles
Croslin, representative of Cox/Croslin
Architects to answer questions - Judges
Ruffino, Delaney and Langley were present
and spoke on the issue stating that
planning for only ten year was a mistake.
Judge Delaney supports the Multi Purpose
room and said that if the county errs by
over building then the error is on the
side of safety for the public. Judge
Ruffino stated that the way the county is
growing, it would be better to construct
the facility as originally designed.
3)
Auditor's report/purchasing procedures -
Commissioner Norton reported that the
Committee to review the Purchasing
Policies had met and the consensus of the
group was that the county was not yet
ready for centralized purchasing. The
committee feels there is a need to
develop procedures to abide by state law
relative to purchasing.
4)
Accounting/Computer system for budget
purposes - The auditor presented a copy
of the way the budget print-outs will
look when budget work begins.
5)
Dues for professional organizations -
Were discussed briefly and would be
discussed in more detail at budget time.
6)
Brazos County Law Library - Discussed the
storage of law books until such time as
the Bryan Public Library is renovated and
opened to public.
7) Access to employees for salesmen - The
County Judge advised the Court of a
request by an insurance company to be
allowed to present their product to
County employees. The consensus of the
Court was it was not a good idea.
After lengthy discussion the County Judge thanked
everyone for attending and then declared the workshop session
adjourned.
