AdJourn. ~i ACE t: • • • COMMISSIONERS' COURT REGULAR MEETING JULY 11, 1994 i i r j A regular meeting of the commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas was held in the Commissioners' Courtroom in the Courthouse in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, July 11, 1994, with the following members of the Court present: R. J. Holmgreen, County Judge, Presiding= Gary Norton, Commissioner of Precinct is Walter Wilcox, Commissioner of Precinct 21 Randy Sims, Commissioner of Precinct 3s Milton Turner, Commissioner of Precinct 4, Absent Mary Ann Ward, County Clerk. The following citizens and officials were in attendance: Carol Palmer Admin. Treasurer • Richard Vance County Engineer Linda Muegge Road & Bridge Bobby Riggs Sheriff Linda Bayer Sheriff's Office Sean Frerking Bryan/College Station Eagle Donald M. Snider Colorad Materials Commissioner Sims gave the invocation and led the pledge of allegiance. The Court first considered two Budget Amendments #93/94- 22 and #93/94-23. The first would transfer funds from the Non Departmental Department to Adult Probation, Justice of the ,Peace Precinct 4 Place 2, the Treasurer and the Sheriff's Office. The second would merely correct and accounting error. On motion by Commissioner Norton, seconded by Commissioner Sims, the Court voted unanimously to approve the budget amendment as submitted, a copy of which is attached hereto. The next matter for consideration was approval to adver- tise for bids for the modernization of the jail elevator. The Court next considered the selection of an alternate supplier for Bid No. 93-700 - Annual Aggregate for Surface i i t F t Treatments. The primary supplier cannot meet obligations and is in the process of filing for bankruptcy. The Purchasing Agent recommended the next low bidder, Young Brothers, at $15.85. On motion by Commissioner Wilcox, seconded by Commis- sioner Sims, the Court voted unanimously to accept the recom- mendation of the Purchasing Agent and name Young Brothers as alternate supplier for Aggregate Surface Treatments. The Court next considered a request to transfer a 1991 Chevrolet Caprice from the Sheriff's office to the Road and Bridge Department. On motion by Commissioner Sims, seconded by Commissioner Norton, the Court voted unanimously to authorize the transfer of the vehicle from the Sheriff's office to the Road and Bridge Department. The Court next considered a request to transfer a 1984 Utility Truck from the Road and Bridge Department to Precinct 7 Constable Pittman. On motion by Commissioner Sims, seconded by Commissioner Norton, the Court voted unanimously to autho- rize the transfer of the utility truck from the Road and Bridge Department to the Precinct 7 Constable. The Court next considered authorizing work outside of county rights-of-way for the health, safety and welfare of the general public. The Road and Bridge Department requested permission to enter the private property of Deborah Riddell located off Francis Road to dispose of dead livestock. This was deemed a threat to the health, safety and welfare of the general public. On motion by Commissioner Wilcox, seconded by Commissioner Sims,. the Court voted unanimously to authorize the work. The Court next considered acceptance of a Warranty Deed for right-of-way along Jones Road in Precinct 4. On motion by Commissioner Norton, seconded by Commissioner Wilcox, the Court voted unanimously to authorize the County Judge to j 1 ~ y , t Commissioners Court meeting July 11, 1994 : s accept on behalf of Brazos County, a Warranty Deed from Donald S. Foster for .25 acres in the T. J. Wooten Survey, A-59 • The court acknowledged receipt of the Extension Service i reports for June 1994 and acknowledged receipt of reports from s County and Precinct Offices showing revenues collected and { remitted to the County Treasurer. Traf. Task Force Claims-15290--thru-------- The County Judge moved to pay the claims. Commissioner Norton seconded the motion. Commissioner Sims then questioned t claim number 94-15129 which was payment to the Texas Weekly Magazine. Commissioners Norton and Sims voiced objections to • payment of that claim. The County Judge amended his motion to pay all claims with the exception of claim number 94-15129. Commissioner Norton seconded the amended motion. The Court then voted unanimously to approve the Claims for payment with the exception of claim number 94-15129.
