IN THE COMMISSIONERS" COURTROOM OF THE BRAZOS COUNTY COURTHOUSE, 300 EAST 26TH STREET, SUITE 115, BRYAN, TEXAS. Consider and take action on award of bid for Property and Casualty Insurance for Brazos County and authorize the payment thereof. Bid No. 94-741 2. Adjourn. 1 ' t i i u . 1 1 f i 1 t , f r VOL K PAG 30~ ' ! t• r- e it COMMISSIONERS' COURT SPECIAL MEETING } t MARCH 28, 1994 f A special meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas was held in the Commissioners' Courtroom in the ' Courthouse in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, March 28, 1994, with the following members of ! the Court present: R. J. Holmgreen, County Judge, Absent; Gary Norton, Commissioner of Precinct 1,; Walter Wilcox, Commissioner of Precinct 2, Presiding; Randy Sims, Commissioner of Precinct 3; Milton Turner, Commissioner of Precinct 4, Absent; f Mary Ann Ward, County Clerk. a ' The following citizens and officials were in attendance: Ruth McLeod Executive Assistant E John Reynolds Auditor Cheryl Turney Auditor's Office f Sandie Walker Treasurer C Kenny Mallard Mallard Insurance Lamar Sawyer Penco • Adrian McDonald Anco Don Gray Risk Management Group • Gerald Muholt Arthur J. Gallagher Co. The Court met to consider awarding the bid for Property ` and Casualty Insurance for Brazos County Bid No. 94-741. 'Commissioner Wilcox opened the meeting and turned it over to Don Gray, representative of Risk Management Group. Mr. Gray recommended (1) renewing the Workers Compensation coverage with the Texas Association of Counties, (2) awarding Mallard Insurance Co. the property and casualty coverage except the Boiler/Machinery coverage (3) awarding A J. Gallagher, Company the Boiler /Machinery coverage. The members of the court discussed the various options at length. Commissioner Sims stated that he wished to talk to the City of College Station before making a decision on the insurance bids. Commissioners Court meeting March 28, 1994 MARCH 30, 1994 i The County Judge reconvened the meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas at 10:00 a.m. on March 30, 1994 in the Commissioners' Courtroom in the Courthouse in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, with the following members of the Court present: R. J. Holmgreen, County Judge, Presiding; Gary Norton, Commissioner of Precinct 1; Walter Wilcox, Commissioner of Precinct 2 Randy Sims, Commissioner of Precinct 3; Milton Turner, Commissioner of Precinct 4, Absent; Mary Ann Ward, County Clerk. The following citizens and officials were in attendance: Ruth McLeod Executive Assistant Carol Palmer Ad. Asst. to County Judge Bea Green Secretary to Commissioners Cheryl Turney Auditor's Office Shirley Copeland Mallard Insurance Kenny Mallard Mallard Insurance Lamar Sawyer Penco Chanda Day Visitor Gerald Muholt Arthur J. Gallagher Co. Commissioner Norton stated that the County was currently self insured. He said that he did not want to change and increase the County's liability at this time. Commissioner Sims reported on his meeting with the City of College Station. He said there are a number of good options available when being self insured. The city has gone to a higher deductible but has a Risk Manager that handles all claims. The cost of a Risk Manager is $104,000. Commissioner Sims said that he felt budget time would be a good time to consider a Risk Manager and Safety Coordinator. In the meantime he said, he would like to continue with Mallard Insurance. The County Judge stated that in looking at all things it refers to a Risk Manager and that he feels that it will be something to consider in the future. On motion by Commissioner Norton, seconded by Commissioner Wilcox, the Court voted unanimously to stay with Mallard Insurance for the property and casualty coverage, ACE 1~ • Commissioners Court meeting March 28, 1994 j Texas Association of Counties for the Workers Compensation Coverage and to go with Arthur J.
