Commissioner Norton stated that the County was currently
self insured. He said that he did not want to change and
increase the County's liability at this time.
Commissioner Sims reported on his meeting with the City
of College Station. He said there are a number of good
options available when being self insured. The city has gone
to a higher deductible but has a Risk Manager that handles all
claims. The cost of a Risk Manager is $104,000. Commissioner
Sims said that he felt budget time would be a good time to
consider a Risk Manager and Safety Coordinator. In the
meantime he said, he would like to continue with Mallard
Insurance.
The County Judge stated that in looking at all things it
refers to a Risk Manager and that he feels that it will be
something to consider in the future.
On motion by Commissioner Norton, seconded by
Commissioner Wilcox, the Court voted unanimously to stay with
Mallard Insurance for the property and casualty coverage,
