A regular meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos

County, Texas was held in the Commissioners' Courtroom in the
Courthouse in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 9:30
a.m. on Monday,'March 14, 1994, with the following members of
the Court present:
R. J. Holmgreen, County Judge, Presiding=

f Commissioner Norton gave the invocation and led the
pledge of allegiance.
The Court next considered Budget Amendment 1193/94-08,
which would.reallocate funds budgeted for Non Departmental.to
various departments and reallocate funds budget for the Brazos
Valley Narcotics Trafficking Task Force. On motion by
Commissioner Wilcox, seconded by Commissioner Turner, the
Court voted unanimously to approve the budget amendment as
submitted, a copy of which is attached hereto.
The County Judge read aloud a Proclamation designating
the week of March 13 through 19, 1994 as "Employ the Older
Worker Week". The Court encourages everyone to work toward
the objective that each worker will be judged on the basis of

individual ability to do a specific job. On motion by the
County Judge, seconded by Commissioner Turner the Court voted
to proclaim the week of March 13 through 19, 1994 as "Employ
the Older Worker Week" throughout Brazos County.
The Court next heard a presentation by Diane Craig,
representative of Brazos Beautiful who informed the Court that
Brazos Beautiful had received a grant from The Texas Forrest
Service in the amount of $5,000.00 and a grant from the Astin
Foundation for $3,000.00. Mrs. Craig explained that some of
the funds would be used to purchase Live Oak and Crepe Myrtle
trees. She said with the permission of the Court, the trees
will be planted along Highway 21 at the County Extension
Service Office. On motion by The County Judge, seconded by
Commissioner Norton the Court accepted the beautification
efforts of Brazos Beautiful and authorized the planting of the
trees along Highway 21 at the Extension Service Office.
The next matter before the Court was a request from Casey
Robinson, representative of R&R Uniforms, who wished to
address the Court on Bid No. 94-743. Mr. Robinson asked why
the contract was not awarded to R&R. He was informed that the
six (6) weeks time to alter the uniforms was too long when the
local bidder could do the work in twenty four (24) hours time.
On motion by Commissioner Wilcox, seconded by Commissioner
Norton, the Court voted unanimously to uphold the action of
the previous Commissioners Court meeting and award the
contract to Career Apparel.
The Court next considered renewal of a lease agreement
between Brazos County and R. D. Timmons of Brazos County for
rental of ?roperty located at 1403 Briarcrest Drive, Bryan,
Texas, for the use of the Sheriff's Office to store a boat,
motor, and dragging equipment. The County agrees to pay to
Mr. R. D. Timmons the amount of one hundred dollars ($100.00)
per month. On motion by Commissioner Wilcox, seconded by
Commissioner Norton, the Court voted unanimously to renew the
lease agreement between Brazos County and Mr. Timmons. A copy

The next matter for consideration was a tax refund to the

Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation on two separate
4 properties. one refund is the result of a law suit settlement
that lowered the appraised value of property 872167 for 1992
to $1,329,550.00 instead of $1,680,850.00. The second refund
is the result of a law suit settlement that lowered the
appraised value of property R72168 for 1992 to $1,380,450.00
instead of $1,513,370.00. on motion by Commissioner Wilcox,
seconded by Commissioner Norton, the Court voted unanimously
to refund $1,545.37 for property R72167 and $584.71 for

property R72168 in county taxes for 1992 to the Federal

Deposit Insurance Corporation.
The Court next considered a request from Constable James
' Marrow to appoint Jeffrey Scott Dew as Reserve Deputy
Constable. on motion by Commissioner Norton, seconded by
Commissioner Wilcox, the Court voted unanimously to approve
the request from Constable James Marrow to appoint Jeffrey
s Scott Dew as F.eserve Deputy Constable without pay.

The Court next considered authorizing work outside of
county rights-of-way to preserve and protect the health and
welfare of the county residents. The Road and Bridge

Department requested permission to enter the private property
of Charles Riddell 0.1 miles south of Francis Road in Precinct
2 to bury a dead horse. on motion by Commissioner Wilcox,
seconded by Commissioner Norton, the Court voted unanimously
to authorize the work.
The Court acknowledged receipt of the Extension Service
reports for February 1994 and acknowledged receipt of reports
showing revenues collected
from County and Precinct officers'

and remitted to the County Treasurer. An excerpt from those
reports is attached hereto.

On this the 14th day of March 1994 at a special meeting of the
Commissioners' Court, the following members were present:

The following proceedings were held:
THAT WHEREAS, on March 14, 1994, the Court heard and approved
a budget amendment for the 1993-1994 budget year for Brazos County,
Texas.
WHEREAS, an expenditure is necessary due to the necessity tq
meet unusual and unforeseen conditions which could not be
reasonably included in the original budget adopted September 13,
1993, the following amendment(s) to the original are hereby
authorized, as described on the attached 2 page(s).
