The purpose of the Public Hearing was to hear commentary
for and against the proposed 45 mph speed limit on Koppe
Bridge Road and Greens Prairie Road.
Commissioner Norton stated in his opening remarks that
proper notice of the hearing had been given according to law.
He gave a brief synopsis of the reason for the reassessment of
the speed limits.
Mary Horn - Justice of the Peace Precinct 2
stated she was glad the speed limit was posted on
Koppe Bridge Road. She said that 35 mph was simply
unrealistic. Also that good sense must prevail on
some curves along the road.
Commissioner Norton - stated that if the speed
limit is established at 45 mph he does not want any
tolerance to speeds above the 45 mph.
Hugh'Lindsay - Attorney and resident of the
area presented a petition signed by nine residents
of the Koppe Bridge area requesting that the speed
limit remain at 35 mph. He also stated that two
(2) months time was not enough to adjust to a
reduced speed.
Ray Crow - employee of the Road and Bridge
Department stated that there was very little
difference in the average speed before and after
the 35 mph speed was established.
