BRAZOS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS COURT MEETING
THE COMMISSIONERS COURT WILL MEET IN SPECIAL SESSION ON MONDAY,
SEPTEMBER 13, 1993, AT 2:30 P.M. IN THE COMMISSIONERS' COURTROOM OF
THE BRAZOS COUNTY COURTHOUSE, 300 EAST 26TH STREET, SUITE 115,
BRYAN, TEXAS.
1. Consider and take action to adopt the county budget for fiscal
year 1993-94.
2. Set Ad Valorem Tax Rate for 1993 on all property in Brazos
County .
3. Adjourn

A special meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos
County, Texas was held in the Commissioners' Courtroom in the
Courthouse in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 2:30
p.m. on Monday, September 13, 1993, with the following members
of the Court present:
R. J. Holmgreen, County Judge, Absent;
Gary Norton, Commissioner of Precinct 1;
Walter Wilcox, Commissioner of Precinct 2;
Randy Sims, Commissioner of Precinct 3, Presiding;
Milton Turner, Commissioner of Precinct 4;
Mary Ann Ward, County Clerk.
The following citizens and officials were in attendance:

Bea Green Secretary to Commissioners
Sharon Fairchild Auditor
Rita J. Watkins Sheriff's Office
Bobby Riggs Sheriff
Johnny Burkhalter Jail Administrator
Ray Truelove Justice of the Peace Pct. 3

Commissioner Sims announced that the purpose of the
meeting was to consider and take action on the adoption of the
county budget for fiscal year 1993-1994 and to set the Ad
Valorem tax rate for 1993 on all property in Brazos County.
Commissioner Sims moved to increase the salaries of the
work crew deputies to $19,324 annually plus benefits. The
motion was seconded by Commissioner Norton and carried
unanimously.
Commissioner Wilcox moved to increase the salary of Henry
Wedel. The motion died for lack of a second.
Commissioner Wilcox then moved to fund the position of
Safety Coordinator at $40,000 annually. The motion died for
lack of a second.
Commissioner Norton moved to adopt the budget as proposed
with the increase in salaries for the work crew deputies.
Commissioner Turner seconded the motion. Commissioners

Norton, Sims and Turner voted "Aye". Commissioner Wilcox
voted "No".
The Court next proceeded to set the Ad Valorem Tax rate
for 1993 on all real property in Brazos County. Commissioner
Sims moved to set the ad valorem taxes on all real property in
Brazos County, Texas as follows:
Maintenance & Operating Rate $.3831
Debt Service Rate $.0511
TOTAL TAX RATE FOR 1993 $.4342 per $100
valuation
Commissioner Norton seconded the motion. commissioners
Norton, Sims and Turner voted "Aye". Commissioner Wilcox
voted "No".
There being no further business to come before the Court,
the meeting was adjourned.
