Call to Order A workshop session of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas was held in the Brazos County Commissioners Courtroom in the Administration Building, 200 South Texas Avenue, in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday,April 1, 2025 with the following members of the Court present: Duane Peters, County Judge, Presiding; Bentley Nettles, Commissioner of Precinct 1; Chuck Konderla, Commissioner of Precinct 2; Fred Brown, Commissioner of Precinct 3; Wanda J. Watson, Commissioner of Precinct 4; Karen McQueen, County Clerk,Absent; The attached sheets contain the names of the citizens and officials that were in attendance. 2. Commissioners Court discussion of Operational Review of County Procedures. Judge Peters called the meeting to Order at 9:30 a.m. and stated that the purpose of this workshop is to address Commissioner Brown's request regarding a committee to review the County's efficiency. Commissioner Brown explained that his goal is to increase County efficiency and provide greater transparency to the public. Specifically, he discussed making the County website more user-friendly, increasing discussion on agenda items and providing more insight into County services and resources. Judge Peters added that one of the County's many resources and efficiencies is the Tax Office's online system for property tax payments. Commissioner Watson clarified that Commissioner Brown's request is for the County to improve transparency and communication with the public. She stated it is incumbent upon the members of the Commissioners Court to meet with staff members to address issues and generate solutions.Additionally, Commissioner Watson suggested the Commissioners hold more Town Halls within each of their precincts. The Court then entered into discussion on the directives and selection of the committee. Judge Peters recommended keeping the committee small and possibly having each Court member select one person to serve. Commissioner Konderla agreed with keeping the committee small and expressed concern regarding selection of members with the right expertise. Commissioner Nettles stated that there is certainly room for improvement within the County to streamline processes and increase transparency and. accountability. He stressed the importance in the Court providing clear guidance on the expectations of the committee and setting parameters to select the appropriate members. Judge Peters suggested that Commissioner Brown and Commissioner Nettles draft a plan for committee selection and directives, then present that plan at another Workshop. Commissioner Nettles and Commissioner Brown agreed to do so. The workshop session was adjourned at 9:56 a.m. 3.
