BRAZOS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS COURT
BRAZOS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS COURT WILL CONDUCT A
PUBLIC HEARING ON TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 2023 AT 9:00 A.M.
IN THE COMMISSIONERS COURTROOM OF THE COUNTY
ADMINISTRATION BUILDING, 200 SOUTH TEXAS AVENUE, SUITE
106, BRYAN, TEXAS 77803
The Court will hear comments on the proposed budget for the fiscal year ending September
30, 2024. All interested parties are invited to attend said hearing and present their cause, if
any, for or against the proposed budget.
This budget will raise more total .property taxes than last year's budget by an amount of
$15,641,538 which is a 16.49 percent increase from last year's budget. The property
tax revenue to be raised from new property added to the tax roll this year is $3,783,609.
The proposed budget is filed with the County Clerk and will remain on file in the office of
the County Clerk in accordance with existing state statutes. All interested parties are
urged to acquaint themselves with said budget during the time it remains on file with the
County Clerk. For your convenience, the proposed budget has also been placed on the
County website at https://www.brazoscountyb(.gov
The Brazos County Administration Building, 200 S. Texas Avenue, Suite 106, Bryan, TX77803 is wheelchair
accessible. Handicap parking spaces are available. Any request for sign interpretive services must be made two

The foregoing minutes of the Commissioners Court Public Hearing held September 19, 2023, have
been examined and are approved in open Court this the 3rd day of October 2023, in Bryan, Brazos
County, Texas.

PUBLIC HEARING
Call to Order
A public hearing of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas was held in the
Brazos County Commissioners Courtroom in the Administration Building, 200 South
Texas Avenue, in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday,
September 19, 2023 with the following members of the Court present:
Duane Peters, County Judge, Presiding;
Steve Aldrich, Commissioner of Precinct 1;
Chuck Konderla, Commissioner of Precinct 2;
Nancy Berry, Commissioner of Precinct 3;
Wanda J. Watson, Commissioner of Precinct 4, Late;
Karen McQueen, County Clerk.
The attached sheets contain the names of the citizens and officials that were in
attendance.
The Court will hear comments on the proposed budget for the fiscal year ending September

Judge Peters called the meeting to order and invited members of the public in
attendance to speak.
Kimberly Galland spoke against a tax rate increase if the County is budgeting more than
it needs to spend.
Jody Quimby spoke against budgeting the $1,000,000 for voting equipment. He
suggested the County return to Precinct voting instead of Countywide voting.
Cynthia Wiley stated that her expectation of elected officials is to be fiscally responsible
with taxpayer money. She noted that taxpayers are financially burdened with the state of
the economy and it is her opinion that it is an unwise choice to place additional burden on
them.
Shauna Cox spoke on the increased salary for elected officials. She stated that the
County should be able to fund the budget with the surplus generated from the No New
Revenue Rate without raising property taxes and asked that the Court tighten the
budget.
With no others wishing to give comments the meeting was adjourned.
