Vol. 3ceo pg. �3� MINUTES MAY 26, 2022 BRAZOS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS COURT WORKSHOP SESSION Call to Order A workshop session of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas was held in the Brazos County Commissioners Courtroom in the Administration Building, 200 South Texas Avenue, in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday May 26, 2022 with the following members of the Court present: Duane Peters, County Judge, Presiding; Steve Aldrich, Commissioner of Precinct 1; Russ Ford, Commissioner of Precinct 2; Nancy Berry, Commissioner of Precinct 3; Irma Cauley, Commissioner of Precinct 4; Karen McQueen, County Clerk, Absent. The attached sheets contain the names of the citizens and officials that were in attendance. 2. Wilcox Lane Bridge at Wickson Creek Repair Mark Taylor began the workshop by explaining the two main objectives. First, to determine any projects that the Court unanimously agrees should be considered priority and second, to take off any funding requests that the Court does not wish to fund at this time. He then recapped the list of priorities with their amounts that were discussed at the workshop session on May 19, 2022. The Court launched into discussion on the prioritization of the I G&N, Straub and Stousland project. It was moved to a higher priority on the list. Melinda Smith began walking the Court through the list of prioritized items to determine whether they need to be recategorized, or reprioritized. The first item addressed was the Medical Examiner's Office. The consensus of the Court is that this item is of the utmost importanr� , \.COI. 5uo Pg.�C The Court also discussed the possibility of feasibility studies for all County facilities. The feasibility studies already on the list remained and there were no new studies added. The next item of interest was the community center. Commissioner Cauley requested that this item be moved up in priority and shifted to the Public Health category. Those changes were made after some discussion. All members of the Court indicated that they were not prepared to allocate funding to a mental health facility though, they all expressed great interest in making sure adequate mental health services were funded. They asked that Traylor and Associates do further research in this matter. After several changes were made, money in some of the reduced categories was moved to budget for higher priority matters such as Broadband. There was lengthy discussion on the ability of the BVCOG to expand their existing lines. More research is also needed on this item however, Mark Taylor stated that in recent conversations with BVCOG, it appears they are capable of expanding and would be interested in undertaking the project. Jim Bouse with Brazos Wifi also addressed the Court regarding broadband. He stated that BVCOG would need to build out more than 76 miles but that would cover the bulk of the underserved portion of Brazos County. Several other projects were discussed and moved to to the desired category and level of priority. It was determined that some projects need further research and others will need guidance from Legal. Mark Taylor asked if the Court wanted to take on any additional funding requests but they all agreed they had enough requests to go through at this time. The meeting was adjourned at 12:04 PM. 3.
