The County Judge called the meeting to order at 11:09 a.m. at the conclusion of the regular meeting and invited Bruce Erratt to speak. 2. Presentation and discussion by General Counsel Bruce Erratt on the creation and structure of a Salary Grievance Committee. General Counsel Bruce Erratt began his presentation by discussing the salary grievance process and timeline. Mr. Erratt then explained to the Court that the purpose for today's workshop is to discuss the committee structure they wish to implement in the event an elected official wishes to grieve their proposed salary. The two structural options created by statute include "Option A", made of six elected officials, three members of the public Vol. ----- 3(00 pg. I and the County Judge as chairman of the committee. "Option B" is a committee of nine public members and the County Judge as chairman. Mr. Erratt stated that if "Option A" is the chosen structure, the District Attorney would prefer the County Attorney to be appointed to the committee instead. Judge Peters discussed that his preference would be a committee made of nine public members, due to elected officials not wanting to serve on the committee in years past. Commissioner Aldrich questioned the benefits of "Option A" versus "Option B" and asked whether it would be helpful to hear the opinions of the other elected officials on their stance. Commissioner Cauley interjected that she feels this is a decision to be made by the Commissioners Court and it is unnecessary to reach out the the other officials. Commissioner Cauley believes the safer decision is to go with the committee of nine public members. Auditor Katie Conner and Budget Analyst Nina Payne concurred with Judge Peters' statement about the past issues in getting the elected officials to serve on the committee. Judge Peters then explained how the salary grievance process works and what exactly the salary grievance, committee does. The workshop session concluded with Mr. Erratt stating that staff would work to create a resolution to be voted on in Commissioners Court that establishes the salary grievance committee structure of nine members of the public. The workshop session was then adjourned. 3. Adjourn vol. pg.
