HomeMy WebLinkAbout2021-04-05 10:00AM REGULAR MEETING ?"T Em0 Tto � Y OF MINUTES APRIL 5, 2021 BRAZOS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS COURT REGULAR MEETING A regular meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas was held in the Brazos County Commissioners Courtroom in the Administration Building, 200 South Texas Avenue, in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 5, 2021 with the following members of the Court present: Duane Peters, County Judge, Presiding; Steve Aldrich, Commissioner of Precinct 1; Russ Ford, Commissioner of Precinct 2; Nancy Berry, Commissioner of Precinct 3; Irma Cauley, Commissioner of Precinct 4, Present by Teleconference; Karen McQueen, County Clerk,Absent. The attached sheets contain the names of the citizens and officials that were in attendance. 1. Invocation and Pledge of,Allegiance -U.S. and Texas Flag - Commissioner Berry 2. Call for Citizen input and/or concerns There was no citizen's input. Consider and take action on agenda items: 3-14 3. Proclamation 21-004 declaring April as Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month. Vol. pg. L4 The Court approved Proclamation 21-004 declaring April as "Sexual Assault and Prevention Month". Judge Peters read aloud and presented the proclamation to Jennifer Laux with the Sexual Assault Resource Center (SARC). Ms. Laux stated that SARC has provided services to Brazos County for over 37 years. She thanked the Court for their support. A copy of the proclamation is attached. Request from Facilities Services for a Payment Authorization to Chapmans Paint Warehouse in the amount of$140.03 for paint supplies.A Purchase Order was obtained in advance but for the incorrect vendor. Motion:Approve, Moved by Commissioner Nancy Berry, Seconded by Commissioner Russ Ford. Passed. 5-0. Ayes:Aldrich, Berry, Cauley, Ford, Peters. 6. Amendment#1 to RFP#20-086 for Lab Services with Baylor Scott& White Medical Center to correct dates of service. Contract language states a two (2)year term and dates reflected a one (1)year term. Juvenile Director's report on detention population. There was no report from the Juvenile Director. 16. Sheriff's report on inmate population. Sheriff Wayne Dicky expressed his thanks to the Sexual Assault Resource Center (SARC)for the service and support they provide to the Sheriffs Office, and all the good work they do in the community. Sheriff Dicky reported there are 525 inmates in jail, 471 are male and 54 are female, 28 have electronic monitors and 8 are pending for monitors. He stated there are no inmates positive for COVI D-19, and there are 5 staff members isolated or in quarantine due to the virus. 17. Announcement of interest items and possible future agenda topics. Commissioner Aldrich joked saying they would need a report from Bruce Erratt on his plans for this evening and added Sic 'em Bears. Commissioner Ford offered his thanks to Matt Prochaska and the Brazos Valley Economic Development Corporation (BVEDC) for setting up a meeting with Oceans Healthcare, which is a long term acute mental care facility.
