Call to Order 2. Option to reinstate cell phone allowance for law enforcement. 3. Adjourn The County Administration Building, 200 South Texas Avenue, Suite 332, Bryan, Texas is wheelchair accessible. MINUTES AUGUST 30, 2019 BRAZOS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS COURT SPECIAL CALLED SESSION 1. Call to Order A special called session of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas was held in the Brazos County Commissioners Courtroom in the Administration Building, 200 South Texas Avenue, in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, August 30, 2019 with the following members of the Court present: Duane Peters, County Judge, Absent; Steve Aldrich, Commissioner of Precinct 1; Sammy Catalena, Commissioner of Precinct 2, Absent; Nancy Berry, Commissioner of Precinct 3, Presiding; Irma Cauley, Commissioner of Precinct 4; Karen McQueen, County Clerk. The attached sheets contain the names of the citizens and officials that were in attendance. 2. Option to reinstate cell phone allowance for law enforcement. Bruce Erratt, Civil Counsel explained the plan for cell phone use for law enforcement since they have the need for First Net services, which is not offered by Verizon. A final proposal from AT&T should be received some time next week that would allow law enforcement to have AT&T phones. The cell phone allowance will be reinstated for law enforcement employees until this plan is worked out. The Sheriff explained how important First Net is and thanked the Court for giving this option. His hope is they will have a system very similar to Smarsh with Verizon. He stated that he does have many at the Sheriff's office that will elect to carry a second phone issued by the county. _ -M s Irene Jett, Budget Officer asked if the Sheriff is proposing to offer a mixed option? Will the employee be able to choose a cell phone allowance or county issued phone? The Court answered that they are not sure at this point. The Sheriff said that he would like to keep the possibility of an allowance for those that choose AT&T. Commissioner Cauley made the motion to reinstate the cell phone allowance for law enforcement until we can work the plan out. She stated that the plan should be worked out before October 1, 2019. Commissioner Berry seconded the motion and the Court voted unanimously to approve. Motion: Approve, Moved by Commissioner Irma Cauley, Seconded by Commissioner Nancy Berry. Passed. 3-0. Ayes: Aldrich, Berry, Cauley. Absent: Catalena, Peters. 3. Adjourn Vol. pg.
