Vol. 263 Pg. � Yf MINUTES NOVEMBER 7, 2017 BRAZOS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS COURT WORKSHOP SESSION 1. Call to Order The Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas met in a Workshop Session in the Commissioners' Courtroom in the Brazos County Administration Building in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 with the following members of the Court present: Duane Peters, County Judge, Presiding; Steve Aldrich, Commissioner of Precinct 1; Sammy Catalena, Commissioner of Precinct 2; Nancy Berry, Commissioner of Precinct 3; Irma Cauley, Commissioner of Precinct 4; Karen McQueen, County Clerk, Absent. Attached is a list of the citizens and officials in attendance. The County Judge called the meeting to order at 10:40 a.m. 2. Presentation and Discussions regarding Easter Seals funding request. Judge Peters started the meeting by giving the background information about Easter Seals to the new commissioners. He said that Brazos County assisted with funding this program while it was directed by MHMR Authority of the Brazos Valley The program was dropped by MHMR because of the lack of State funds. Judge Peters explained that Easter Seals of East Texas then took on the program for a few years. He said that the local program is now directed through Easter Seals of Greater Houston. Judge Peters then invited members of the Easter Seals of Greater Houston to begin their presentation. Vol. 263 Pg. W Chief Executive Officer Elise Hough explained that they were able to negotiate a better rate per child with the State of Texas than MHMR or Easter Seals of East Texas were able to receive. Mrs. Hough described services they provide through the Early Childhood Intervention Program. Commissioner Aldrich asked if they were aware of the Fun For All Playground in College Station. Commissioner Cauley questioned the amount of funding requested. Mrs. Hough stated that they are requesting fifty thousand dollars ($50,000.00). She said that funding would go toward training of staff, equipment for babies, and family education services. A copy of the presentation is attached. 3.
