The Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas met in a Workshop Session in the
Commissioners' Courtroom in the Brazos County Administration Building in Bryan,
Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 with the
following members of the Court present:
Duane Peters, County Judge, Presiding;
Lloyd Wassermann, Commissioner of Precinct 1, Absent;
Sammy Catalena, Commissioner of Precinct 2;

Karen McQueen, County Clerk, Absent.
Attached is a list of the citizens and officials in attendance.
Judge Peters called the meeting to order and invited Ashley Cureton, Wellness
Consultant for Texas Association of Counties to speak.
2. Discussions regarding the possible participation in Wellness Incentives that Texas
Association of Counties offers.
Ashley Cureton began the presentation by outlining the plans offered through the
Healthy County Program. Ms. Cureton described the following programs:
1. Naturally Slim- is a 10 week program that assists employees with healthy eating and
weight loss. Participants of this program apply and are accepted based on criteria set
by the employer. The claim costs are $38.50 per completed 10 week session. Brazos
County is not charged for weeks not completed.
2. Airrosti - this program's focus is on musculoskeletal health care that can offer rapid
recovery from common conditions and injuries to help employees avoid surgeries and
other unnecessary treatments. Ms. Cureton recommended a $50.00 to $70.00 co -pay
to allow this program to be more affordable for employees.
3. Catapult - Ms. Cureton stated that is a preventative health screening program, but
since the County has a Health Clinic for employees that can offer the same services,
this program would not be beneficial.
4. Health Lifestyle Rewards - this program allows employees a $50.00 gift card
incentive to complete 3 out of 4 challenges. Texas Association of Counties would
invoice the County for the $50.00 per employee that completes the challenges.
5. Wellness Incentive Plan - this program promotes employees to receive an annual
health exam.
Human Resources Director Jennifer Salazar asked for direction from the Court on
beginning the steps to implement these programs.
A copy of the presentation is attached.
