Approval to lower the Brazos County Expo Center stall fees from $20 to $1 for equine due to flooding caused by Hurricane Harvey. Commissioner Berry offered a motion to approve lowering the Brazos County Expo Center stall fees from $20 to $1. Commissioner Catalena seconded the motion. Judge Peters explained that the Constitution will not allow counties to give away services. The Expo staff followed the emergency policy which reduces the stall fee to a flat rate of $20 with one free bag of shavings, rather than paying a daily stall rate and extra for shavings. Judge Peters thinks this was implemented to cover basic costs, but Po; stated the Court is compassionate and wants to help those families suffering as a result of Hurricane Harvey. After discussion about shavings, Commissioner Berry offered an amended motion to clarify the $1.00 stall fee will also include one bag of shavings. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Aldrich and passed unanimously. The Court then returned to the original motion to amend the policy for stall fees from $20.00 to $1.00 and it passed unanimously. 3.
