BRAZOS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS COURT
BRAZOS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS COURT WILL CONDUCT A
PUBLIC HEARING ON TUESDAY, AUGUST 22, 2017 AT 1:30 P.M. IN
THE COMMISSIONERS COURTROOM OF THE COUNTY
ADMINISTRATION BUILDING, 200 SOUTH TEXAS AVENUE, SUITE
106, BRYAN, TEXAS.
The court will hear comments on the proposed budget for the fiscal year ending
September 30, 2018. All interested parties are invited to attend said hearing and present
their cause, if any, for or against the proposed budget.
The proposed budget is filed with the County Clerk and will remain on file in the office of
the County Clerk in accordance with existing state statutes, All interested parties are
urged to acquaint themselves with said budget during the time it remains on file Wth the
CountyCierk. For your convenience, the proposed budget has also been placed on the
countywebsite at http://brazoscountvty.gov/index.aspx?NI D=368.
The Commissioners Courtroom of the County Aaministration Building, 200 South Texas Avenue, Suite 106, Bryan,
Texas is wheelchair accessible. Flandicap parking spaces are available. Any request for sion interpretive services

BRAZOS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS COURT
PUBLIC HEARING
The Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas held a Public Hearing at the
Brazos County Administration Building in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, at 1:30 p.m. on
Tuesday, August 22, 2017, with the following members of the Court present:
Duane Peters, County Judge, Presiding;
Steve Aldrich, Commissioner of Precinct 1;
Sammy Catalena, Commissioner of Precinct 2;
Nancy Berry, Commissioner of Precinct 3, Absent;
Irma Cauley, Commissioner of Precinct 4;
Karen McQueen, County Clerk.
Attached is a list of the citizens and officials in attendance.
The purpose of the hearing is to hear commentary on the proposed budget for fiscal
year ending September 30, 2018.
The County Judge called the meeting to order at 1:30 p.m. and invited others to speak.
Judge Peters announced that adoption of the Fiscal Year 2018 Budget will take place
on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. during the regular Commissioners' Court
meeting.
Constable, Precinct 3 J.P. Ingram asked the Court to reconsider his personnel request.
Constable I ngram stated that with the growth of Precinct 3 and the handling of all truancy
cases in Brazos County, there is need for another deputy. Constable Ingram said that
he has had to send deputies out alone to serve notices which is extremely dangerous.
He said that his office serves more civil process than the other precincts. Constable
Ingram said any consideration would be greatly appreciated.

Sheriff Chris Kirk spoke next asking for two patrol deputies that were not included in the
budget. Sheriff Kirk asked for just one deputy to be added for 2018 as well as a
booking deputy for the jail. Sheriff Kirk said he would also appreciate the consideration
to replace two transport vehicles that have high mileage.
Deputy Constable, Precinct 1 John Campbell said he is here on behalf of Constable
Jeff Reeves. He stated that he would appreciate an additional deputy as Constable
Reeves requested.
There being no one else wishing to speak the meeting was closed at 1:45 p.m.
The foregoing minutes of the Commissioners Court Public Hearing held August 22,
