Call to Order
The Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas met in a Workshop Session in the
Commissioners' Courtroom in the Administration Building, 200 South Texas Avenue, in
Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 with the
following members of the Court present:
Duane Peters, County Judge, Presiding;
Lloyd Wassermann, Commissioner of Precinct 1;
Sammy Catalena, Commissioner of Precinct 2;
Kenny Mallard, Commissioner of Precinct 3;
Irma Cauley, Commissioner of Precinct 4;
Karen McQueen, County Clerk, Absent.
The attached sheets contain the names of the citizens and officials that were in
attendance.
2. Presentations and discussions regarding the County's pharmacy plan.
Vimal Patel, Humana Pharmacist gave a presentation on the current Brazos County
Pharmacy Plan. The presentation included spending of pharmacy benefits, specialty
drugs, and trends. Mr. Patel discussed the prior authorization protocol and explained
that the County is not currently requiring prior authorization. Mr. Patel also mentioned
incentive programs requiring bio metric screenings.
Brenda Cos and Mark Grierson of USI were also present to answer any questions from
the Court.
Human Resources Director Jennifer Salazar said that the Pharmacy Contract will need to
be renewed soon and mentioned going out for an RFP. Mrs. Salazar also
recommended modifying the plan to the more restrictive 4 -tier plan. She also mentioned
that there have been some communication and customer service issues with Humana.
