IN THE COMMISSIONERS COURTROOM OF THE COUNTY ADMINISTRATION BUILDING, 200 SOUTH TEXAS AVENUE, SUITE 106, BRYAN, TEXAS THE COURT WILL HEAR COMMENTS ON THE PROPOSED BUDGET FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING SEPTEMBER 30, 2015. ALL INTERESTED PERSONS ARE INVITED TO ATTEND SAID HEARING AND PRESENT THEIR CAUSE, IF ANY, FOR OR AGAINST THE PROPOSED BUDGET. THE PROPOSED BUDGET IS FILED WITH THE COUNTY CLERK AND WILL REMAIN ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF THE COUNTY CLERK IN ACCORDANCE WITH EXISTING STATE STATUTES. ALL INTERESTED PARTIES ARE URGED TO ACQUAINT THEMSELVES WITH SAID BUDGET DURING THE TIME IT REMAINS ON FILE WITH THE COUNTY CLERK. ZZ / t4s + 7 N y oGHr} ov tio BRAZOS COUNTY BRYANJEXAS MINUTES August 26, 2014 BRAZOS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS COURT PUBLIC HEARING G Signature Page.pdf L4 File Stamped Agenda.pdf Sign in sheet.pdf The Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas held a Public Hearing at the Brazos County Administration Building in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 26, 2014, with the following members of the Court present: Duane Peters, County Judge, Presiding; Lloyd Wassermann, Commissioner of Precinct 1; Sammy Catalena, Commissioner of Precinct 2; Kenny Mallard, Commissioner of Precinct 3; Irma Cauley, Commissioner of Precinct 4; Karen McQueen, County Clerk. Attached is a list of the citizens and officials in attendance. The purpose of the hearing is to hear commentary on the proposed budget for fiscal year ending September 30, 2015. The County Judge called the meeting to order at 10:57 a.m. and invited others to speak. Marc Hamlin, District Clerk asked that the regular temporary position that was removed from his budget, Class Code 1713, Position 3, Group 7, Step 2, be restored. The County Judge removed it and added one new full time position. Mr. Hamlin said he needed both. Vol. 207 Pg. ZZZ- Chris Kirk, Sheriff requested two (2) patrol positions. He asked that the Court consider giving him at least one (1). The vehicle he was going to turn in can be returned and used for the new position. This would relieve the Environmental Deputy. Animal Control was funded a single cab truck instead of the needed extended cab truck. The Compliance Officer is a top priority. That position and the Quarter Master were not funded. The Work Crew vans (2) need to be replaced. Isaac Butler, Constable Precinct 4 said he needs a new position to serve JP Truancy. This just came to his attention or he would have requested it in budget hearings. The County Judge pointed out that once he is on the 4th floor, he will no longer be scanning people for security and that in turn will free up that position. Constable Butler did not agree saying that there will be more to deal with when they move into the Courthouse. Their duties have increased since adding deputies. He feels that Precinct 4 isn't always treated right. Commissioner Cauley addressed the frustration that Precinct 4 is not given the same consideration as other offices. Irene Jett, Budget Officer asked that any requests that elected officials and /or court members have, be submitted in writing by no later than Thursday at noon so that amendments can be made along with budget calculations. The County Judge then announced the dates for the Public Hearing on the tax rate and adopting the budget. Vol. 207 Pg.
