Vol. 2 02 Pg. ZL The County Judge called the meeting to order and introduced Grant Defaust who spoke to the Court on the plans for water containment in Brazos County. The plan is to not use fresh water for (racking. Mr. Defaust showed pictures of water collection bins that they built in Wheeler County, Texas. He explained how the bins are built and lined to prevent leakage. The reason for water storage is to keep the big trucks off the roads, transport by hose, keep pollution /dust down and of course prevent damage to county roads. Berms are built around the bins that further contain water in the event of a breach so it will not contaminate the ground water. The berms are about six (6) feet tall and compacted with a crown around them so a vehicle can drive up on them to collect the leakage. The bins are covered with net to prevent debris from falling into them. These bins are not permanent installations. When (racking is completed the bins can be picked up and moved to another location. Commissioner Catalena asked how far the water can be pumped. Mr. Defaust replied four (4) miles, but that two (2) miles was ideal. Mr. Defaust explained that the goal is to buy water from a waste water treatment plant They have created a process to clean the water and use it in the fracking process. Mr. Defaust showed the Court a map of the area where (racking will be done. He explained that it was out of the flood plain and that operation of the pumps would be virtually noise free. Water coming out of the well will be cleaned and stored in the bins and they in turn will be pumped out on a daily basis. 3. Adjourn.
