To make arrangements, please call (979) 3814102, Vol.-200 Pg. „Z 'S 7 N y BRAZOSCOUNTY BRYAN,TEXAS MINUTES April 7, 2014 BRAZOS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS COURT WORKSHOP SESSION Minutes Call To Order. 19 Signature Page.pdf 2 File Stamped Agenda.pdf .L Sian in sheet.pdf A workshop meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas was held in the Budget Conference Room on the third floor of the Administration Building, 200 South Texas Avenue, in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, April 7, 2014 with the following members of the Court present: Duane Peters, County Judge, Presiding; Lloyd Wassermann, Commissioner of Precinct 1; Sammy Catalena, Commissioner of Precinct 2; Kenny Mallard, Commissioner of Precinct 3; Irma Cauley, Commissioner of Precinct 4; Karen McQueen, County Clerk, Absent. The attached sheets contain the names of the citizens and officials that were in attendance. 2. Discussions regarding standardization of county law enforcement marked and unmarked vehicles. The County Judge opened the meeting and turned the floor over to Charles Wendt, Purchasing Agent who began the discussion on the standardization of Sheriffs Office Vol. 200 Pg. o?-5-7 vehicles. The Crisis Intervention Team - prefers the regular vinyl back seat over plastic Transport - does not need sirens, just dashboard lights, no decals and would like the option on the back seat. The only exception is that the van will need a decal. Workcrew Vans - would like an option for a wench for those vans assigned to Road & Bridge. The Sheriff office is also looking for a floor liner to protect it from damage. The floor is rusting out. Investigator vehicles - there are different needs for different agencies, but would like to keep them all as standard as possible. County Attorney - does not need extras because they do not do traffic stops. They too prefer the vinyl backseat as they do some transport. They would like the cage option and cruise control for long distance. Cruise control is standard on Dodges. Constable Donald Lampo - asked for Mobile Data Terminals (MDT's) for all vehicles. Jim Stewart says its great but not sure it's mandatory. Miscellaneous Marked Law Enforcement Jim Stewart Chief Deputy, Sheriffs Office - many of these are in SUV's now. Not sure they all must be. He thinks those that assume command of incidents probably need the SUV for all the stuff that is required. Unmarked Law Enforcement - Administration Donald Lampo, Constable Precinct 2 - no longer wants tinting on the front windows. Jim Stewart also stated that the front tint was not needed. Wayne Dicky, Jail Administrator - suggested checking to see if it's not needed for protection of computer equipment to keep it from getting too hot. The group also discussed issues with plastic liners and stuff getting underneath it, may need to use a spray liner. Tinting may be needed for investigators. Chief Stewart asked for menu options to select during the budget process. The County Judge suggested having the standard no tint but having an option if needed. Wayne Dicky - said maybe the investigator cars only have the tinted windows as standard. The County Judge had no problem with this. Donald Lampo - asked if Constables would have any other option other than the Charger. Sometimes he said he needs an SUV/Tahoe. He would like the option of having all his deputies in a Tahoe. He believes Caldwell Country would make the county a good deal. J.P. Ingram, Constable Elect - said the City of Bryan had done a thorough study and is going completely to Tahoes. They last longer, are safer and better equipped he said. He agrees with Constable Lampo and hopes he will still have an option. He went on to say Vol. 200 Pg. o?S� that another factor in choosing the Tahoe over the Charger is that you get more money when you trade in a Tahoe versus a Charger. Charles Wendt said you may get a little more, but the county uses vehicles up before selling so he doesn't think we would get a substantial amount more. Mr. Ingram pointed out that if you only have one standard type of vehicle and Dodge decides, like Ford, that they will no longer do the police package you have to scramble versus having Tahoes in the mix. Mr. Wendt said he will contact Caldwell Country. 3. Adjourn.
