2. Presentation and Discussion by the Brazos Valley Council of Governments ( BVCOG)

was also present and participated in the presentation
Mr. Parks opened by saying that the office could be located in any of the seven (7)
counties in the COG, however Brazos County is the most likely place for it. The COG is
looking at the old Department of Public Safety building as the potential location. It is
slated to go to auction this summer. It is appraised at $700,000. Governmental
agencies are given the opportunity to bid first on the property but may need to show a
need before bidding. Study time is of the essence.
Tommy Munoz, Justice of the Peace, Precinct 2 Place 2 asked if we are still trying to
get the medical school at Texas A &M involved. Mr. Parks replied yes and that A &M,
Blinn and Scott and White are all interested.
Mr. Parks continued saying that right now the concept does not include labs but
prosecutors are saying that this is needed. So, he said it is something to look at.
Judge Munoz asked if we could handle mass fatalities. Mr. Parks replied yes.
Irene Jett, Budget Officer asked about grants. Mr. Parks replied that he had not found
one to build, but has found some to help run special services.
Mr. Parks would like a cost analysis done on this.
The County Judge said he liked the idea of a medical examiner as close to Brazos
County as possible. The only concern is while building we are still sending away for the
service.
The Court discussed a feasibility study
