To make arrangements,� ) COMMISSIONERS' COURT SPECIAL MEETING SEPTEMBER 30, 2010 A special meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas was held in County Judge's conference room in the County Administration Building, 200 South Texas Avenue, in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 30, 2010 with the following members of the Court present: Randy Sims, County Judge, Presiding; Lloyd Wassermann, Commissioner of Precinct 1; Duane Peters, Commissioner of Precinct 2; Kenny Mallard, Commissioner of Precinct 3, Absent; Irma Cauley, Commissioner of Precinct 4; Karen McQueen, County Clerk, Absent. The attached sheet contains the names of the citizens and officials that were in attendance. The County Judge called the meeting to order and then proceeded to consider the daily amount of reimbursement of expenses for a person who reports for jury service in Fiscal Year 2011. On motion by Commissioner Peters, seconded by Commissioner Wassermann, the Court voted unanimously to pay $6.00 for the first day and $40 for each day thereafter. The Court next considered approval of the proposed Jury Payment Authorization Form for Fiscal Year 2011, and choice of Vol Page !e_J Commissioners Court meeting September 30, 2010 2 non profit agencies listed on the form for jurors to have the option to donate all or part of their juror payment to. Commissioner Peters moved to add United Way to the list of non profits jurors may donate to. Commissioner Wassermann seconded the motion. Commissioners Wassermann and Peters voted "Aye ". Commissioner Cauley and the County Judge voted "No ". The motion failed for lack of a majority of the votes. Commissioner Wassermann said that he feels United Way funds other non profits and is in good position to monitor the non profits. Commissioner Cauley said the agenda does not address adding other non profits and that United Way does not fund all non profits and feels United Way is inadequate for this purpose. She said last year the court decided not to fund museums and she suggested more non profits be added to the juror payment form. The County Judge said he is not inclined to support adding the United Way. Commissioner Cauley suggest making a motion to not fund any organization and let jurors decide to be paid or not be paid. Commissioner Peters then moved to leave the two mandated non profits on the form. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Cauley and carried unanimously. Commissioner Peters then moved to use the form with the two (2) mandated non profits printed on it. The Court proceeded to consider setting the Constable fees for Fiscal Year 2011. On motion by Commissioner Cauley, seconded by the County Judge, the Court voted unanimously to set the fees at the same rate as in 2010. A copy of the fee schedule is attached. The next matter before the Court was to consider setting the Sheriff's fees for Fiscal Year 2011. On motion by Commissioner Wassermann, seconded by Commissioner Cauley, the Court voted unanimously to set the fees at the same rate as in 2010. A copy of the feel schedule is attached. There being no further business to come before the Court, the meeting was adjourned.
