Attached is a list of the citizens and officials in attendance. The purpose of the hearing was to consider a plan for handling the electronic conversion and preservation of County Archives. The County Clerk addressed the Court. She explained the plan saying that it is currently in Phase I. Her office began collecting the archival fee in October 2009, and has collected $78,000 to date. The purpose of this is to reduce the number of books housed in her department. Commissioner Cauley asked if after the completion of Phase I, would additional personnel be needed, whereupon Ms. McQueen replied that she did not think so. Commissioner Peters asked if some of this information Vol 131- Page 9a could be accessed from home. Ms. McQueen said yes that interested parties could view the indexes for free, but they would have to pay $1.00 to view and /or print the document. The County Judge said this would be placed on the agenda for the next Commissioners Court meeting. There being no further comment, the County Judge declared the Public hearing closed.
