NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
ON THE PROPOSED BRAZOS COUNTY BUDGET
FOR FISCAL YEAR ENDING 30 SEPTEMBER 2010
9 SEPTEMBER 2009
THE BRAZOS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS COURT WILL CONDUCT A PUBLIC
HEARING ON WEDNESDAY 9 SEPTEMBER 2009 AT 9:00 A.M. IN THE
COMMISSIONERS COURTROOM OF THE COUNTY ADMINISTRATION BUILDING,
200 SOUTH TEXAS AVENUE, SUITE 106, BRYAN, TEXAS.
THE COURT WILL HEAR COMMENTS ON THE PROPOSED BUDGET FOR FISCAL
YEAR ENDING 30 SEPTEMBER 2010. ALL INTERESTED PERSONS ARE INVITED TO
ATTEND SAID HEARING AND PRESENT THEIR CAUSE, IF ANY, FOR OR AGAINST
THE PROPOSED BUDGET.
THE PROPOSED BUDGET IS FILED WITH THE COUNTY CLERK AND WILL REMAIN
ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF THE COUNTY CLERK IN ACCORDANCE WITH EXISTING
STATE STATUTES. ALL INTERESTED PARTIES ARE URGED TO ACQUAINT
THEMSELVES WITH SAID BUDGET DURING THE TIME IT REMAINS ON FILE WITH
THE COUNTY CLERK.

COMMISSIONERS' COURT
PUBLIC HEARING
SEPTEMBER 9, 2009
The Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas held a
Public Hearing at the Brazos County Courthouse in Bryan,
Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday,
September 9, 2009, with the following members of the Court
present:
Randy Sims, County Judge, Presiding;
Lloyd Wassermann, Commissioner of Precinct 1;
Duane Peters, Commissioner of Precinct 2;
Kenny Mallard, Commissioner of Precinct 3;
Irma Cauley, Commissioner of Precinct 4;
Karen McQueen, County Clerk.
Attached is a list of the citizens and officials in
attendance.
The purpose of the hearing is to hear commentary on the
proposed budget for fiscal year ending September 30, 2010.
The County Judge announced that the budget will be adopted on
September 21, 2009.
Irene Jett, Budget Officer advised the Court that there
are a few items to be corrected resulting in a small savings.
She further advised the Court there is approximately $105,000
that has not been allocated and is available for any
adjustment that the Court wishes to make.
Ann Hazen, Charles Lamb, President of the Prenatal Board
of Directors, and Steve Koran, Executive Director of the
Prenatal Clinic asked that funding be restored to the full
amount for the Prenatal Clinic.
Marc Hamlin, District Clerk requested the reinstatement
of the clerk position that had been removed from the District
Clerk Budget. Marc Hamlin, District Clerk, Kay Hamilton,
Treasurer, Tina Snelling County Attorney-Civil Division, and
Commissioner Mallard spoke at length on the juror payment
clerk position and which department should house the position.
The County Judge recessed the meeting at 10:05 a.m. to
open the Public Hearing on the tax increase.
At 10:07 the County Judge reconvened the Public Hearing
on the budget.
Sheriff Chris Kirk requested 3 new employees for the jail
division.
Kristy Roe, Tax Assessor/ Collector requested one new
position to work with voter registration and rotate in other
areas of the Tax Office.
Marc Hamlin, District Clerk asked for a part time
employee to train to maintain scanners but the position would
be in the Information Technology Department. He objected to
the transfer of $20,000 from his Records Management fund for
the maintenance of scanners in his department.
There being no further comments, the County Judge
declared the Public hearing closed.
