BRAZOS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS COURT
THE BRAZOS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS COURT WILL CONDUCT A PUBLIC
HEARING ON FRIDAY 4 SEPTEMBER 2009 AT 9:00 A.M. IN THE COMMISSIONERS
COURTROOM OF THE COUNTY ADMINISTRATION BUILDING, 200 SOUTH TEXAS
AVENUE, SUITE 106, BRYAN, TEXAS.
THE COURT WILL CONSIDER A PLAN FOR THE COUNTY CLERK ARCHIVAL FUND,
AND HEAR COMMENTS ON THE PROPOSED PLAN.
ALL INTERESTED PERSONS ARE INVITED TO ATTEND SAID HEARING AND
PRESENT THEIR CAUSE, IF ANY, FOR OR AGAINST THE PROPOSED PLAN.
The County Administration Building is wheelchair accessible. Handicap parking spaces are available. Any request for sign

COMMISSIONERS' COURT
PUBLIC HEARING
SEPTEMBER 4, 2009
The Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas held a
Public Hearing at the Brazos County Courthouse in Bryan,
Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Friday,
September 4, 2009, with the following members of the Court
present:
Randy Sims, County Judge, Absent;
Lloyd Wassermann, Commissioner of Precinct 1;
Duane Peters, Commissioner of Precinct 2, Absent;
Kenny Mallard, Commissioner of Precinct 3, Presiding;
Irma Cauley, Commissioner of Precinct 4;
Karen McQueen, County Clerk.
Attached is a list of the citizens and officials in
attendance.
The purpose of the hearing is to hear commentary on
funding the preservation and restoration of County Clerk's
records archive as allowed by SB 1744 allowing counties to
collect a Records Management and Preservation fee of $5.00
with the Commissioners Court approval. This amends Texas
Local Government Code, Section 115.01(e). This is
necessitated due to there being insufficient funding to
electronically preserve and restore the older documents that
have a priceless historical value in which most are barely
legible, capturing the records in a digital format will

enhance access for employees and the public. Karen McQueen,
County Clerk estimated that a $5.00 Records Archive fee would
generate approximately $169,500 annually.
There being no further comment, the County Judge declared
the Public hearing closed.
