The attached sheet contains the names of the citizens and officials that were in attendance. The County Judge called the meeting to order and then turned the floor over to the Sheriff reported that one of the fire panels in the jail had been damaged and could not be repaired and he proceeded to provide a history of the problems with the Gamewell fire panels. He explained that the equipment is obsolete and for that reason it can not be repaired as parts are no longer available. Therefore it must be replaced. The cost estimate for the Gamewell equipment, shipping and installation is approximately $10,800. If Vol la3 Page V- Commissioners Court meeting July 8, 2009 2 approved, the equipment should be here Friday or Saturday but it can not be installed before Monday. The Court discussed using the Siemens brand that is already on site for the new jail. They were told there will be an incompatibility issue with the sensors if using the Siemens brand. As of yet, he does not have a price on them but will use Britt Rice Electric for the installation of the sensors that are compatible with the fire panels as his department has an open purchase order with them. They will be more expensive. Wayne Dicky, Jail Administrator and Corey Knapp were available to answer questions from the Court. The quickest fix is probably to go with the Gamewell brand of equipment but the most operational is the Siemens. The Siemens product will cost $66,780 for a new panel and devices. They can start on that tomorrow. It will take three weeks for all devices to be changed out so it will not be operational for that length of time. After much discussion and on motion by Commissioner Cauley, seconded by Commissioner Wassermann, the Court voted unanimously to purchase a Gamewell panel and accessories needed, not to exceed $12,000 and declare this an emergency. There being no further business to come before the Court, the meeting was adjourned.
