SPECIAL MEETING
SEPTEMBER 12, 2008
A special meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos
County, Texas was held in Commissioners Courtroom in the
County Administration Building in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas,
beginning at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, September 12, 2008 with the
following members of the Court present:
Randy Sims, County Judge, Absent;
Lloyd Wassermann, Commissioner of Precinct 1;
Duane Peters, Commissioner of Precinct 2;
Kenny Mallard, Commissioner of Precinct 3, Absent;
Carey Cauley, Jr., Commissioner of Precinct 4,
Presiding;
Karen McQueen, County Clerk, Absent.
The attached sheet contains the names of the citizens and
officials that were in attendance.
Commissioner Cauley proceeded to consider a request
from Juvenile Services for permission to transfer $47,560.00
to pay for the proposed improvements to the portable
buildings. On motion by Commissioner Peters, seconded by
Commissioner Wassermann, the Court voted unanimously to
approve the request.
The Court next considered Budget Amendment #07/08-46.1
through 46.3 that would transfer funds to the Capital
Improvement Fund from Contingency (2), and reallocate funds

for Capital Improvement Fund. On motion by Commissioner
Peters, seconded by Commissioner Cauley, the Court voted
unanimously to approve the budget amendments as submitted, a
copy of which is attached hereto.
The Court next considered Change Order No. 2 in the
amount of $47,560 to Greenway Constructors, Inc. for the
addition of the exterior work on the portable buildings at the
Juvenile Justice Center. Commissioner Peters informed the
Court that he had spoken with Steve Byre with Greenway
Constructors about building a covered walkway. This would
only save the County $1,100.00. Commissioner Peters asked the
Court to approve Change Order No. 2, to be contingent on the
approval of the County Judge when he returns. On motion by
Commissioner Wassermann, seconded by Commissioner Peters, the
Court voted unanimously to approve Change Order No. 2
contingent on what the County Judge decides upon his return. A
copy is attached.
The Court next considered the following Claims as
submitted by the County Treasurer for payment:

On motion by Commissioner Peters, seconded by Commissioner,
Cauley, the Court voted unanimously to approve the Claims as
submitted.

Commissioner Peters announced that the next Tuesday night
meeting of Commissioners Court will be held in the
Commissioners Courtroom in the Administration Building. The
room in the Brazos Center that is normally used for the
meeting is booked for that evening.
There being no further business to come before the Court,
the meeting was adjourned.

Dear Judge Sims:
We have been requested to provide an estimate of exterior work needed to complete the Juvenile
Justice Facility. The additional items of work are enumerated below along with the cost to complete
these items:
1. Rebuild ramps and steps on the two (2) front entrances and the two (2) rear entrances to the
Academy Building and the Training Building. The cost to remove the existing substandard
ramps to the buildings and the replacement of all four (4) of these units will cost Thirteen
Thousand Four Hundred and No/100 Dollars ($13,400.00).
2. Provide a new aluminum covered walkway from both buildings to the street at the new
installed sidewalk 3" steel posts and full gutter. The additional cost for this work is Nine
Thousand Nine Hundred Ninety Eight and No/ 100 Dollars ($9,980.00).
3. Pressure wash, re-caulk all exterior joints and repaint both buildings. The additional cost for
this work is Seven Thousand Nine Hundred Eighty and No/100 Dollars ($7,980.00).
5. Install underground storm water collector piping and tie the downspouts into the drainage
system and discharge at rear of buildings into an energy dissipater. The additional cost to
install this underground storm water collector system is Six Thousand Four Hundred Eighty
and No/100 Dollars ($6,480.00).

6. Install a fire alarm system in both buildings to meet minimum standards of the Life Safety
Code for minor children occupancy. The cost to install this system for both buildings is Nine
Thousand Seven Hundred Twenty and No/ 100 Dollars ($9,720.00).
